
The Industrial Property Office of the Slovak Republic awarded the Ján Bahýl Prize to the Technical University of Košice for patent No. 288407 entitled "Method of disposal of reeds in stagnant waters and equipmentfor itsimplementation", the originators of which are prof. Ing. Dušan Šebo, PhD., Dr. h.c. mult. prof. Ing. Miroslav Badida, PhD., doc. Ing. Juraj Šebo, PhD. and Ing. Monika Fedorčáková, PhD. from faculty of mechanical engineering TUKE.
Since 1999, the Industrial Property Office of the Slovak Republic has awarded the Ján Bahýľa Award to Slovak originators and owners of patents, utility models and designs for their exceptional technical or design solutions in order to enhance creativity in Slovakia.

In the 8th year of the Ján Bahýl Prize, the prize was awarded in two categories:
The method and equipment for the disposal of reeds in stagnant waters can be conveniently used for the disposal of reeds in standing waters intended for drinking water supply or bathing, fish farming, where necessary to ensure the quality of micronutrients in water and to reduce the degree of eutrophication of water.

On September 29, 2021, the FITS conference - Forum of Engineers and Technicians of Slovakia, organized by ZSVTS on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of its establishment, took place in the Centrum Hotel, which could not have taken place earlier due to the pandemic situation. The central theme of the event was "The future of science and technology at the national and international level". The conference also included a ceremonial part of the conference, where awards were presented to members for their work to date. At the conference, one of the awards "honorable mention ZSVTS" for work in the field of the environment was awarded to a member of our department, doc. Ing. Ružena Králiková, PhD.
