In 1875, a classic pavilion of the higher agricultural school was built (today the Department of Physics is located there). He approached the emerging street by a park that was tied to the central centre of the building. The concept of the orchard responded to the counterpart park in front of a higher military school - a cadet, but differed from it mainly by a relaxed parter and the diversity of planted trees. It is clear that the parks of both buildings contributed to the planting process in Košice.

Since 1879, the University of Agriculture has been active in higher agricultural school, and in 1894 it was transformed into the School of Water Technicians. It was the only constitution of its kind in Hungary. Later, in 1884, a separate building - the building of our department - was built on the premises of the economic school. In 1908, she moved into a new building on today's Kuzmány Street.

The Department of Environmantalistics and Process Management was created on the basis of a change in the organizational structure of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Technical University in Košice resulting from the change of the Statute of SjF TU in Košice from 1.9.1998 from the former Department of Automated Production Systems.

The Department provides education in the fields of environmental protection technology in engineering studies and Environmental Protection Technology in bachelor study in the form of full-time and distance study.

In addition, the Department provides vocational education at the level of doctoral studies in the fields of Automation and Management and Environmental Sciences.
